Short biography

Bart Van Gasse was born in Sint-Niklaas on June 3, 1983. After secondary school (Sint-Jozef-Klein-Seminarie) and participation in the International Mathematics Olympiad in Washington DC in 2001, he went to Ghent University and obtained a M.Sc. in Mathematics in 2005. His thesis was about algebraic structures for fuzzy logic calculi. In September 2005, he joined the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Ghent University, where he is a member of the Fuzziness and Uncertainty Modelling Research Unit working toward the Ph.D. degree with a thesis about fuzzy logic based on interval-valued triangular norms.
